Horses of the Port of Oakland
Taken at the newly remodeled Port of Oakland building. Lots of building going on and the roads are torn up making getting there confusing.
Oakland Is...
Oakland is many things. Hip, artistic, original. It is also poor and hard scrabble. It is many things, some beautiful and some pretentious. Some of those things are hard to tell from the other.
Our Lady of the Dead
Our Lady of the Dead w/bowl for understanding the size
Dirt Bath Girls
Taken for size only. These tiles are backed with cork to protect the surface of your surfaces
Charlotte and Delores
This tile is of Charlotte (Welsummer) is the chicken on the left and Delores (Brahma) is the girl with the wealth of white feathers. They are living happy in an herb garden in Oakland.
Delores Struts Her Stuff
Delores is a Brahma, a big girl with a lovely temperment. Her mates are Eleanor and Charlotte.
The Conference
Eleanore and Charlotte had a short conference in their backyard. There were no notes (they were buried).
The Dirt Bath #3
Eleanor, Charlotte, and Delores are taking a dirt bath. Charlotte got sleepy and is using Eleanore as a pillow and chin rest.
The Dirt Bath
This tiles shows the beginning of a fowl favorite! The dirt bath. Watching them in this activity was entertaining and productive (for me).
The Dirt Bath #2
This is part 2 of the DB series. Again you see Eleanore and Char in the midst of setting themselves in a favorite activity...the dirt bath.
Eleanore Calls Her Peeps
Even though she is no more that 15 feet from her girl gang, Eleanore is worried that she can't see her girls. Here she is calling out to them to come to her.
The Elephant in the Room
This tile is from a series taken in SF of an exterior wall in the Mission. Walk anywhere you like in SF and you are sure to come across unsanctioned art. A great thing (in my opinion).
Elvis Has Left the Building
This girl is (I think) a Holland, if you want to look her up. I was on a photo shoot in Tomales Bay and she was a welcome distraction.
This is the printed version of the same tile you may already have seen. Printed for a 13x19 frame on a lovely luster paper. You can see Delores in the background with Eleanore and Charlotte front and center.
Urban Abstract
This one was taken several years ago, somewhere along Mandala Way in Oakland. A gateway to an alternative way of being. I loved the power in it. The energy.
The Gate
This is a section of a unique gate to a residence in Oakland made from a train box car. The gate made a wonderful tile as well!
Haida Totem Tile 1
There are 5 pieces that can be used w/or without the others. Together they make a complete totem, but the patterns are appealing as stand-alones. This one is the head and beginning of the piece
Haida #2
This is the 2nd tile in the Haida totem.
Haida #5
This is the 'tail' of the series of Haida Totem pieces. The title of the entire totem was "And the Raven Brought the Light to the World." The Raven was believed to have overseen the birth of humans and their culture.
Spring Iris
I spotted an Iris blooming near my home and in developing it, I favored an Elizabethan romantic color scheme.
Jack in the Box
Part 2 in a series of images from San Francisco's colorful and prolific artist renderings on buildings everwhere in the area. It was part of the Elephant in the Room.
May she always reign... From the train lines in San Leandro CA.
Day of the Dead is big around Oakland CA and here it was also along the train tracks of San Leandro. I particularly love the skeletal fingers around the arousal can of poison(?).
Little
Little One is small in size but she is the middle sister of the chickens. She mediates quarrels and helps everyone get along. She is a Holland breed, known for brown eggs and a small size bird. She is a reall sweet heart.
Little in Profile
Little One in profile.
Wasatch Mountains
This is a section of the Wasatch Mountains in Utah. The name of the area is Guardsman Pass just outside of Park City. In JUNE! Later that week I traveled to Moab and sweated in the heat. Talk about your micro-climates...
Newspaper Rock
This tile is from my trip to Moab, Utah. The Rock is huge and I wanted to make take one section to emphasize how incredible it is...
Little One Again
Little One was making her stroll in the herb garden this morning and looked absolutely stunning. And fierce, which is funny because she isn't at all!
Orange
This is a pumpkin. POV is directly from the top, down. The color and texture are very satisfying to me and the pov gives a kick to the imagination when trying to 'read' it.
Raven With a Chip
Ravens are brave, bold and really smart. This one is at the Unviversity of Vancouver on VC Island. Furthering his education perhaps... or teaching?
Raven Chip #2
Share
I always found this one to be very odd. Share??? That isn't what is going on here. What did the artist mean by it. Maybe I am just looking at it wrong. Is the birdie (lol), making a suggestion to the artist that the artist doesn't want to hear?
Sugar Skull
Day of the Dead isn't complete without candy. Skull candy.
Chica of the Dead
She will light your way, but do you really want to go that way? Hey its only one day!
